In a meeting with the Mayor of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab, the State Governor, Geraldo Alckmin, and the Minister for Sports, Orlando Silva, this afternoon in the capital of the State of São Paulo, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff ensured that the auction for the Bullet Train would go ahead in April of this year.
Budgeted at more than US$ 18.07 billion, this is the most expensive work project within the Growth Acceleration Program (Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento – PAC), and its feasibility is constantly cast into doubt by specialists and also by people who oppose the project.
The signal made by the Brazilian President suggests that the project will not be included in the cost reduction of US$ 30.12 billion in the Government’s budget this year. The auction has been scheduled for 29 April.
During the meeting, Ms Rousseff has also shown great respect and kindness towards Orlando Silva, despite rumors to the contrary.
